Imela Youth Foundation

How We Work

People-Centered. Purpose-Driven. Powered by Love.

IYF’s model is simple but powerful: we listen, we train, we walk with communities. We don’t work for people — we work with them. Every solution is built on the real voices and lived realities of the youth and women we serve.

Our Christian values of love, dignity, and integrity are at the heart of every training, outreach, and partnership.

Grassroots-Led Solutions

We prioritize the voices and leadership of local communities. Our work begins with listening, and grows through local ownership.

Skills Before Support

Every program starts with training. We don’t give handouts — we equip people with tools to build their own livelihoods.

Peer-Led & Group-Based

From VSLAs to youth clubs, we organize participants into peer-support models that encourage accountability and growth

Faith, Love & Dignity

Inspired by John 3:16, our work is grounded in compassion. We believe every person has value — regardless of past or status.

Our Methods in Action

  • Participatory Community Assessments
We engage youth, single mothers, and elders to identify real needs and assets.

  • Hands-On, Practical Training
All sessions are experience-based: participants practice the skills they’ll use to earn and lead.

  • Capacity Building Over Time
We offer long-term programs (e.g., tailoring) as well as short, high-impact life skills (e.g., soap making).

  • Mentorship & Follow-Up
After training, we mentor, monitor, and walk with our participants as they build businesses or re-enter school.

Measuring What Matters

We track progress using simple, transparent tools to ensure every effort creates real, measurable impact. Feedback loops with communities, regular evaluations, and public reporting keep us accountable to both our beneficiaries and supporters.

“Every donation and every training has a clear story behind it — and a life that’s changed.”
