Imela Youth Foundation

Empowering Youth. Elevating Communities.

Building a brighter future for youth, single mothers, and underserved communities in North Eastern Uganda, Kalaki District..

Who We Are

Immediate Elevation Action (IMELA) Youth Foundation IYF is a female-founded, youth-led community-based organization (CBO) established in 2022 in response to the growing challenges of youth unemployment, school dropouts, child marriages, and widespread poverty in underserved communities.

We are committed to empowering youth aged 12–35, especially school dropouts and single mothers, through education, vocational skills, economic empowerment, and advocacy. At IYF, we believe in building a world where every young person has the opportunity to reach their full potential — free from poverty, discrimination, and abuse.

We don't wait for change. We act to create it — with love, dignity, and purpose.

How we work

Grassroots-Led Transformation

We work directly with underserved communities—starting where the need is greatest. Our approach is rooted in local leadership, lived experience, and peer-to-peer empowerment.

Skills Before
Support

We empower youth and single mothers with practical skills—before offering financial aid. This creates lasting independence, not dependence.

Group Power through VSLAs

We form self-managed savings groups (VSLAs) where members save, lend, and learn together. It’s financial inclusion from the inside out.

What We Do

At Imela Youth Foundation, we address the root causes of poverty and vulnerability through practical, people-centered programs that empower youth, single mothers, and entire communities.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention

We raise awareness, support survivors, and educate communities to break the cycle of violence and protect vulnerable women and girls.

Village Savings & Loan Associations (VSLA)

We organize savings groups to help members save, borrow, and invest together — providing financial inclusion and resilience at the grassroots.

Health & Sanitation Awareness

We promote HIV/AIDS prevention, menstrual health, reproductive health and waste management.

Vocational & Life Skills Training

We equip youth and single mothers with marketable skills — training from soap making, jelly, shampoo, hair food, conditioner, liquid soap and chalk — for self-reliance.

Education Support

We provide educational assistance to bright but disadvantaged learners, helping them stay in school and reach their full potential.

Socio-Economic Empowerment

We promote entrepreneurship, savings culture, and small business growth to lift families out of poverty and build sustainable futures.
